"every woman has a story" - Tyra Banks

I know who i am

" Gods word assures us that we have tremendous value because of who we are - God's beloved children. What i do is not always perfect. But i still know who i am - a child of God whom He loves very much. My worth and value come from the fact that Jesus died for me. I have been purchased with the blood of Christ. God selected "

33 weeks pregnant!

Pain Free Birth?

Physical pain in general is due to sin entering the world. This includes childbirth, according to the book of Genesis (Genesis 3:16). We now know that Jesus has conquered sin, so the power of sin is no longer has dominion over us.

Therefore is it not possible for Christians to give birth without pain?

Tempted as i am on approaching my first delivery, to launch into a barrage of "free me from pain" prayers, there's just one thought that is stopping me....

Rather than chasing a pain free birth, should i not be using my energy to  chase God himself?

There is pain in times of great passion; God did not make a race of robots. Did Mary not cry out in pain as she gave birth to Jesus? I think she did.

The pain of birth is different from the pain of death. It is a positive life-giving process. Maybe God shouted in the heavens as He created and birthed the world. They say that the contractions of labour are all-consuming and it is impossible to focus on anything else. The experience of labour shouts to the rest of the world. Labour focuses you on an event of huge significance.

The pain is life-giving and goes both physically and emotionally deep.

In the Old Testament, God's people gave cries of victory and blew their horns as they advanced into the new land that God had given them.

Embarking on parenthood is entering promise-land territory.

I think labour is a fitting time to cry out in victory and for help from the Lord.
